MIAMI VALLEY —
A Springfield woman was killed and several people were injured in multiple crashes Monday afternoon, some of which were blamed on the snowfall throughout the region that helped create slick roads.
Here is a timeline of some of those accidents:
7:17 p.m. Wolf Creek Pike in Trotwood was closed for a time as emergency crews responded to a two-vehicle crash on Wolf Creek Pike near Strawberry Court. It was not immediately clear if weather was a factor. Police said a Crown Victoria headed east on Wolf Creek collided with a westbound Buick LeSabre. Three people were injured and taken to a hospital. It’s not clear which vehicle went left of center.
5:30 p.m. Two children and their adult male driver were taken to Springfield Regional Medical Center after a two-vehicle crash at Baker Road and St. Paris Pike in German Twp., Clark County. The injured were in a Chevrolet Cruze that failed to stop on Baker Road and struck a van on St. Paris Pike, according to the Ohio Highway Patrol.
The Cruze driver reported that he was unable to stop because of the snow. Despite poor road conditions, the investigating trooper said the Cruze driver will be cited because he was driving too fast for road conditions. The van’s driver was not injured.
4:30 p.m. A 20-year-old Springfield woman was killed and three of her passengers were injured in a one-vehicle accident in the 6500 block of Zimmerman Road, near Millerstown Road, in Mad River Twp., the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office said.
Mirada Biniarz was pronounced dead at Mercy Memorial Hospital in Urbana. She was driving a 1999 Hyundai south toward U.S. 36 when she apparently lost control of the vehicle and hit a guardrail.
Passenger Bryan Hall, 22, also of Springfield, and their two children — a 3-month old male and 3-year-old girl — were treated at the scene and released, according to the sheriff’s office.
Hall’s uncle, in a call to News Center 7, said Biniarz and Hall were engaged and lived together in Springfield. According to the uncle, the children are in the care of Biniarz’s aunt.
The accident is under investigation, according to Sheriff Matthew Melvin, and so it was not immediately clear whether weather was a factor.
4:13 p.m. A car crashed into a tree at Meeker Road and Peters Pike in Huber Heights.
4:13 p.m. A crash on Interstate 75 between Vandalia and downtown Dayton.
4 p.m. Fire crews getting reports of slide offs in Enon on east and westbound I-70.
4 p.m.: A male driver was injured after his truck hit a pole at the junction of U.S. 127, Stephens Road and Swishers Mills Road. Emergency scanner traffic indicated the driver had to be extricated. A medical helicopter was called but unable to go because of weather conditions. The driver’s condition was not immediately known.
3:50 p.m. Crash at eastbound 70 at U.S. 68, a vehicle into wall.
