Secret drug indictment yields an arrest

Staff Report

SPRINGFIELD —

A six-month investigation into the sale of crack cocaine in Clark County has yielded the arrest of one man who had been secretly indicted, and the arrest of a second man unrelated to the indictment who was wanted on a warrant.

Mario C. Grimes, 33, named in the indictment, and 27-year-old Ariel Bush, who was sought on a charge of violating of temporary protection order, were arrested at about 11 a.m. Thursday in a vehicle Grimes was driving, Sheriff Gene Kelly said Friday morning.

During the arrest, deputies discovered that Bush had a large amount of currency and small plastic bag of marijuana on his person. Both were taken to the county jail, Kelly said.

Detectives later executed a search warrant at the Townhouse Motor Lodge, 2850 E. Main St., where Grimes had been renting a room.

Grimes will appear in the county Common Pleas Court at a later date to answer to three counts of drug trafficking and driving under suspension.

Bush appeared in the county Municipal Court on Friday to answer to the violation of the order and misdemeanor drug abuse.

Additional charges may be filed pending further investigation and presentation of evidence to a county grand jury.
