GREENVILLE, Darke County —

A Greenville man who was captured and arrested on a charge of attempted aggravated murder appeared before a Darke County judge on Friday morning.

Jamel Gray, accused of stabbing a former girlfriend who was found April 19 in a residence on Gray Avenue, appeared by video and arraigned and indicted on four charges. The charges include attempted aggravated murder, aggravated burglary, domestic violence and violation of a protection order.

Judge Jonathan Hein entered a plea of not guilty on Gray's behalf and set his bond at $1.5 million. He was also appointed an attorney.

If convicted as charged, Gray could spend 36.5 years in prison and fines as high as $55,000.  Gray was captured last Friday in Cleveland follwing a struggle with police in Cleveland.

In May, authorities in Darke County doubled a reward for information leading his arrest. According to police, the $500 reward doubled to $1,000. Greenville police detective Eric Roberts said a citizen tip and the $1,000 reward helped  locate Gray.

Authorities have said they have plenty of physical evidence to prosecute Gray, who had been listed as armed and dangerous.
