Police in Sugarcreek Twp. distributed a composite photo Thursday created from a description provided by a Little Sugarcreek Road woman after the latest in a series of break-ins.

The woman told police she met the subject of the drawing about 11 a.m. Monday in the hall of her home at 876 Little Sugarcreek Road.

“They got spooked,” Sgt. Mark White said.

Police said the man and and accomplice stole a jewelry holding money and jewelry from a bedroom in the home. Police said the men broke in through a rear window after no one answered the door at the home, according to witnesses.

Police turned to the community for help in solving the series of daytime house burglaries, including at least one in Beavercreek. The other two break-ins were last Friday on Land Drive and over the holidays on Napa Valley Road, according to police.

“The perpetrators are ringing the front doorbell several times and if they get no answer, they are forcing entry, usually through the back of the residence,” Sgt. J.R. Williams of the Sugarcreek Twp. Police Department said in a press release.

The suspects impersonate utility or tree service workers, if the door is answered, police said.

“Please notify the police department if you have unknown, expected people show up at your residence,” Williams said in the release.

According to Dayton Power and Light, all employees or contractors carry photo identification. Residents should ask to see it and contact police if the person cannot provide it.
Dayton Power & Light also maintains a list of the professional tree trimming companies used as contractors at http://www.dpandl.com. Residents can also call 888-582-3213 to confirm if a tree contractor is working for DP&L.

Any customer with questions about someone who identifies himself as working for DP&L is encouraged to call DP&L at 800-433-8500.

Police ask anyone with information to call 937-848-6161 or (937) 310-3200.
