Teen hit officer during arrest at Dunbar H.S.

DAYTON —

A Dunbar High School student struck a school resource officer Wednesday morning after he was allegedly holding and selling marijuana.

A struggle ensued around 9:30 a.m. in the school’s principal’s office, 1400 Albritton Drive, when school staff members and two school resource officers tried to control and handcuff a 17-year-old suspected of selling marijuana, according to the Dayton police report.

The student struck one officer in the neck with his elbow as he fought to keep one hand free as the other was handcuffed, according to the report.

The incident came after a staff member observed an exchange of $20 between the student and a classmate and it appeared to be a drug transaction, according to the report.

Police said a subsequent search revealed the student was holding about 17 grams of marijuana in three pill bottles.

The student was given a minor misdemeanor citation for marijuana possession and booked into the Montgomery County juvenile detention facility on an assault charge.
