Terrance Cearley charged with endangering

PIKE TOWNSHIP —

Two teens are accused with offenses involving underage persons after Clark County deputies learned they were under the influence of alcohol Friday night and while they were babysitting two children, 6 and 7.

Friday night at 11:27 p.m., Clark County deputies were dispatched to 22 Mark Dr. in Pike Township to check the welfare of two children residing with the father, Terrance Cearley.

There was an anonymous report of the father smoking marijuana and drinking alcohol.

Upon arrival, deputies smelled a strong order of marijuana from the trailer. Cearley refused to let the deputies in, but eventually he did. Cearley admitted that he had been smoking marijuana and drinking alcohol. When he was asked by deputies who’s caring for the children, Cearley responded his son, who is 15 and his friend, who is 14.

After the teens were interviewed, deputies concluded they were under the influence of alcohol. They told deputies they took it from the refrigerator without the father’s knowledge. Deputies found no marijuana or drug paraphernalia in the trailer.

The two teens have been ordered to juvenile court. Terrance Cearley was charged with two counts of endangering children and ordered to appear in court on Nov. 26 at 10:30am.

The young children were returned to their mother.
