DAYTON —
One of the Texas 10 Most Wanted sex offenders is believed to be in the Springfield area and a reward of up to $3,000 is being offered to the public for information that leads to his arrest.
Jimmy Ray McMillan, 42, of Dallas, is a convicted sex offender wanted by the Texas Department of Public Safety for failure to register as a sex offender.
McMillan in 1988 sexually assaulted a 9-year-old girl he was babysitting, according to Senior Inspector William Taylor, with the Dayton office of the U.S. Marshals Service, Southern District of Ohio.
McMillan was arrested and subsequently convicted in 1990, then released on parole four years later. In June 2011, the fugitive moved from Texas and his whereabouts are unknown.
On March 28, an arrest warrant was issued for McMillan on a charge of failure to comply with the sex offender registration requirements.
Taylor said that two weeks ago, tips led investigators to the 200 Block of North Shaffer Street in Springfield, but McMillan had moved out of the residence.
What is known about McMillan is that he is known to suffer from asthma, has breathing issues and may have received medical treatment in the Springfield area from November 2011 through May 2012.
Taylor also said that McMillan is known to find work with companies that install and/or replace gutters as well as home improvement companies.
The reward is being offered by the Texas Department of Safety for information leading to McMillan’s arrest.
McMillan is described as 5-foot-10 inches tall, about 155 pounds and a tattoo of the word “Tex” on his right arm and a tattoo of “V+V” on his left arm.
Taylor said McMillan should be considered dangerous.
“I consider them all of them dangerous, especially when they’re hiding,” Taylor said.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Dayton office of the U.S. Marshals Service at (937) 225-2917.
