HARRISON TWP., Montgomery County —
A man police say shot and killed another man at a gas station Tuesday morning has been charged with murder and several weapons charges.
Evan Ray Dixon, 24, remained in the Montgomery County Jail on $1 million bond Thursday evening. He is accused of killing Frederick Woodfork, 23, of Courter Street in Trotwood.
According to sheriff's deputies, Woodfork was shot to death about 1:05 a.m. after an argument began inside the Valero gas station at Philadelphia Drive and Siebenthaler Avenue.
Dixon, who turned himself in hours after the shooting, has been formally charged with single felony counts of murder, having weapons as a felon, and carrying a concealed weapon.
Dixon is not allowed to possess a firearm because he has a felony conviction for drug trafficking (heroin) from 2005. He was sentenced to five years probation, during which time warrants were issued for his arrest four times for violating the terms of that probation.
An initial court hearing on these new charges in the homicide is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Friday.
