Woman accused of driving onto frozen Indian Lake

LOGAN COUNTY, Ohio —

Police in Washington Township in Logan County said they arrested a woman after she drove her car onto frozen Indian Lake around 10:45 p.m. Friday.

Authorities said Carol Lemaster, 45, of Galloway, was traveling eastbound on Port Royale in Russells Point when, they said, she failed to negotiate a curve. Police said Lemaster then drove her sport utility vehicle onto the lake.

According to a police report, the water was frozen enough to hold the weight of the car. The report indicated that the driver left and walked back to the road, where she was found walking a short time later.

Officers said Lemaster initially denied being involved. However, she later admitted that she drove her vehicle onto the lake, police said.

Lemaster was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence, failure to control and leaving the scene of a crash. She is being held in the Logan County Jail.
