A man was sentenced to 36 months in prison today after pleading guilty to unlawful sexual conduct with a minor.

Larry Wise, 67, pleaded guilty to the charge after accepting a plea bargain. He was originally charged with rape stepping from the October, 2012 incident. The victim was a female under 16 years old, according to reports.

Wise was also ordered to register as a Tier II sex offender, which means he will have to check in with the county sheriff where he lives every 180 days for the next 25 years.

Wise told the judge and the victim he was sorry, saying the crime was out of character for him. Wise blamed his actions on his decision to mix alcohol and marijuana, according to a statement he made to the court.
