DAYTON —
Excessive speed was a factor in a crash that left a man seriously injured Friday night.
Emergency crews responded shortly before 10 p.m. to the single-vehicle crash on Walton Avenue.
Dayton Sgt. John Riegel said the driver was headed north on Walton when he lost control and struck a tree.
The driver was pinned and Dayton firefighters used equipment to free him from the wreckage.
The man suffered serious injuries and was taken by life squad to Miami Valley Hospital.
Riegel said the driver was exceeding the speed limit and going too fast for the road conditions.
