DAYTON —
Police are investigating a shooting outside an apartment on Mount Crest Court early Friday morning. The victim was shot in the back, and the bullet exited through his front chest area, according to police.
The victim was lucky his injuries were not more serious, according to Dayton Sgt. Donald Burden.
Officers responded to the Mount Crest Court Apartments around 12:20 a.m. Friday on a reported shooting. Once they arrived they found the 27-year-old victim at an apartment in the 600 block of Mount Crest.
The victim was reportedly shot after some type of disagreement with another person, possibly a robbery, and then the victim broke into a nearby apartment trying to get some help, Burden said.
Medics rushed the man to Miami Valley Hospital, where he is listed in serious, but non-life threatening condition, according to Burden.
Officers said the victim did not live in the area where the shooting took place.
Police have some leads on possible suspects, but so far no arrests or descriptions have been released.
The shooting remains under investigation.
