MERCER COUNTY —
(UPDATE) Northern Bureau Chief Steve Baker visited Rockford Thursday to get community reaction to the arrest on Wednesday of murder suspect Daniel Charles Martin in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He is charged in the shooting death of his girlfriend Melinda Mindy Shinn, age 26, back on November 8, 2012. Watch the VIDEO.
After months on the run, police have arrested a Mercer County man who is suspected of killing his 26-year-old girlfriend.
The suspect, Daniel Charles Martin, 40, was arrested in Fort Wayne, Ind. Martin is accused of shooting Melinda Shinn, 26, inside her Rockford home in November.
According to authorities, Martin and the victim, identified as Melinda S. Shinn, were arguing the evening of Nov. 7. It’s believed Shinn was shot in the early morning hours of Nov. 8.
