LOGAN COUNTY —
Authorities are investigating the death of a missing Logan County teen who died after getting struck by a vehicle.
On Friday around 12:40 p.m., Austin L. Houser, 15, was reported missing by his mother, who said she had not seen her son since Thursday morning. A bus driver reported that Houser had been dropped off at his residence in the 2600 block of Ohio 40 after school Thursday.
On Saturday, sheriff deputies responded Ohio 274 just north of Rushsylvania on the report of an unresponsive male in a ditch. The male, identified as Austin Houser, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a release. Preliminary reports indicate that Houser was struck by a vehicle that left the scene of the crash.
A vehicle believed to be involved has been recovered, and deputies are working with the Logan County prosecutor’s office for a search warrant to process the vehicle, according to reports.
Anyone with information or who may have witnessed Houser walking along Ohio 274 Thursday afternoon is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at (937) 692-5731.
