CLARK COUNTY, Ohio —

A pedestrian seriously injured Thursday night in Springfield Twp. after being struck by a vehicle on East National Road remained in critical condition at Miami Valley Hospital early Friday afternoon.

Initial investigation revealed Rodney Picolo, 34, of Springfield, was walking west on East National Road in a dark sweatshirt and denim jeans when he was struck by a westbound pizza delivery driver, Ohio State Highway Patrol officials said.

Troopers said at the scene the driver, identified Friday as Joshua Vannoy, 18, of Springfield, wasn’t at fault and wouldn’t be cited in the incident; the pedestrian should have been walking against the flow of traffic, according to state law.

The crash remained under investigation Friday, OSP Sgt. Bo Schmutz said.

Picolo was flown to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton by medical helicopter.
