Police: Man shot in Middletown Thursday night

MIDDLETOWN —

One person was shot Thursday night in the parking lot of of a Middletown restaurant by two men demanding money, according to police.

At 10:45 p.m., police responded to Atrium Medical Center after a subject showed up with a gunshot wound. The victim reported that he had been approached in the Fricker’s parking lot by two black males in their 20s. The victim told police the men asked for a cigarette and then demanded money.

The victim said when he turned to walk away, he heard a “pop” and felt a burning sensation in his left buttocks. He said he didn’t initially realize he’d been shot, and he drove himself to the hospital.

The bullet entered the victim’s left buttocks and traveled to his right thigh. The injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
