Police: Teens fired pellet guns, ran from police

Staff Report

ENGLEWOOD —

Two teenagers were arrested after they allegedly fired pellet guns, stole beverages from a gas station and ran from police.

The incident occurred in the early morning hours of Sept. 2. Officers from Englewood and Clayton responded to a report that four teenagers riding bikes were firing pellet guns at a business in the 7700 block of Hoke Road, according to Engelwood police records.

The teens were spotted at the Murphy USA gas station but they fled after seeing police cruisers. Two male teenagers, ages 14 and 15, were taken into custody but the other two got away, according to police.

Officers found pellet guns, air cartridges and pellets and noted that a beverage cooler had been pried open at the gas station and four beverages were found on the ground, according to the report.

William Hine, a citizen who was at the ATM at the Wright Patt Credit Union, tried to stop one of the teens from running away, but he was knocked down. Hine told News Center 7 that he suffered four broken ribs and is pressing assault charges against the teen.
