Railroad pole hit by car; repairs needed

Staff Report

FAIRBORN —

A railroad crossing pole at the intersection of Kauffman Avenue and South Central Avenue was destroyed when a vehicle lost control and struck the pole early Friday morning.

Officers said two people were inside the vehicle around 1 a.m., when the car veered off the right side of the road before hitting the pole. The pole was smashed to the ground and will require repairs from railroad maintenance, police said.

The passenger of the vehicle was trapped inside the car, but had to be cut out, police said.

Both the passenger and the driver were not injured, but the passenger was transported to the hospital to be checked as a precaution, according to police.

Police did take the driver of the vehicle into custody for suspicion of operating a vehicle intoxicated, according to reports.
