‘Significant’ meth lab busted in Middletown

By News Staff

MIDDLETOWN —

Police are calling it a “significant active methamphetamine lab” in the basement of a home on Brentwood Street.

That’s according to the Middletown Division of Police, which released details of the investigation Monday night.

Police said an officer stopped a pickup truck as it pulled into the driveway of a home in the 1700 block of Brentwood Street.

The male passenger bailed out and fled into the house while the driver, 22-year-old Chelsie Peck, spoke with the officer, according to police.

Upon searching the house, instead of finding the male passenger, officers found a meth lab set up in the basement.

The hazardous materials and chemicals were being removed Monday night by police special operations officers, with assistance from the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the city fire department.

Police said Peck was arrested on suspicion of permitting drug abuse. Police continue to look for the male suspect.
