WEST CARROLLTON —
Police took a male into custody Monday night after he crashed the vehicle he was driving and ran from a routine traffic stop.
Police and emergency crews blocked the intersection of Poplar Street and Shannon Avenue at approximately 9:30 p.m. According to West Carrollton police, an officer attempted the stop for a “traffic violation.”
The vehicle sped away, wrecking into a parked car on Shannon Avenue, according to scanner traffic and West Carrollton police. The suspect ran into an occupied home but police were able to convince the suspect to surrender.
Upon doing so, however, police officials said he started to struggle with officers. The man was tased in order to bring him under control, police said. Medical personnel were called to the scene.
“This case is still under investigation and specific criminal charges will be forthcoming after meeting with the Montgomery County Proecutors Office,” according to a release from the West Carrollton Police Department.
