SHELBY COUNTY —
A driver suspected of being under the influence of alcohol caused a crash at the intersection of Ohio 47 and Hardin Wapak Road Friday night, according to deputies.
Bruce Borgerding, 44 of Lockington, Ohio, was transported to Wilson Memorial Hospital, but later transferred to Miami Valley Hospital after he crashed into the driver side door of another vehicle at the intersection around 5:30 p.m. Friday, a release from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office said.
Borgerding’s condition was not immediately available.
A citizen reported Borgerding’s vehicle to deputies after they suspected he may be driving drunk, deputies said.
A deputy spotted Borgerding’s vehicle and attempted to pull him over, but he drove off travelling north on Hardin Wapak, the release said.
Borgerding ran a stop sign at the intersection of Ohio 47 and Hardin Wapak and caused the crash, deputies said.
The driver of the other vehicle involved in the crash refused medical treatment at the scene, according to officials.
The crash remains under investigation.
