Illegal drugs and cash were found in a GMC van that was pulled over on I-75 March 9.

SHELBY COUNTY —

A man is facing drug charges after illegal drugs and cash were found in his vehicle during a traffic stop on Interstate 75 in Shelby County.

On March 9, a deputy conducted a traffic stop on a 1999 GMC on southbound I-75 in Sidney, according to the release. After the deputy detected signs of criminal activity, a K9 unit was deployed and indicated to the presence of illegal drugs in the rear of the van.

The van was searched, and 5.4 pounds of high-grade marijuana, 1,800 prescription pills, $1,200 in cash, four bottles of an illegal liquid and other ingredients used to make drugs were found.

The driver, identified as Eric L. Cato of Louisville, Ken., was arrested and charged with drug trafficking.
