Troopers find drugs helping stranded motorist

BUTLER COUNTY —

Ohio Highway Patrol troopers stopped to assist a stranded motorist and ended up finding more than $7,000 in drugs Wednesday.

Troopers were in the area of Tylersville Road on Interstate 75 around 3:45 p.m. when they discovered the vehicle. Upon investigation, troopers found 179 Xanax pills and 1.5 grams of heroin.

The driver of the vehicle, Dorothy Stewart, 37 and her passengers, Canrnell Hart, 23, and Chelsea Stewart, 20, were arrested and booked into the Butler County Jail. All three face charges of possession of a controlled substance and aggravated trafficking in drugs, according to OHP.

If convicted the Richmond, Ky. natives could face up to six years in prison and up to a $15,000 fine.

The drugs were located after troopers observed criminal indicators and called a drug-sniffing dog to the scene. The two women involved were concealing the pills and heroin on their person.

The case remains under investigation.
