Man dies after motorcycle crash on I-71

Staff Report

CLINTON COUNTY —

A motorcycle rider who crashed into the back of a van Thursday morning later died at an area hospital, The Ohio State Highway Patrol said.

John P. Moss, 53, of Wadsworth was riding a Harley Davidson south on I-71 south of U.S. 68 and failed to stop before slamming into a van driven by Michael McCleery, 21, of Loveland, OSP said. The van was pushed into tractor-trailer.

Moss was taken to Miami Valley Hospital in critical condition and died was a result of traumatic injuries, OSP said. McCleery and his passenger Austin Dozier, 26, of Laurel, Md, were taken to Clinton Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A few miles away, a second crash forced troopers to close the northbound lanes of I-71 for a short time just north of State Route 73.

That crash happened around 3:30 a.m. when a pickup truck hit the median, OSP said. The driver of the pickup suffered non-life threatening injuries, OSP said.
