XENIA —

A warrant has been issued for a man suspected of discharging a firearm outside of Xenia High School Wednesday night.

Xenia police said a disturbance at a girls’ basketball game between Xenia and Trotwood-Madison high schools led to gunfire in the parking lot.

No one was injured.

Brendon O. Jeffrey, 18, of Springfield, is wanted for improperly discharging a firearm in a school safety zone, a second-degree felony.

Police said the disturbance did not involve any students from Xenia.

“A disturbance occurred inside the building during the game and spilled out into the parking lot,” Xenia Sgt. Steve Lane said Thursday. “In the parking lot, shots were fired. No one was hit and our indication was that they weren’t trying to hit anyone; that the shots were likely fired into the air.”

A one-call alert went out to Xenia parents Thursday morning, noting the incident.

Lane said the Xenia Police Department often staffs boys’ basketball games, but not as many girls’ games, and the police were not in attendance Wednesday night.

The disturbance did not disrupt the game, which Xenia won, 50-34.

Staff Write Jill Kelley contributed to this report.
