Police tape off the bank of the Great Miami River, below the low level dam, where the body of a 57-year-old woman was recovered from the water in Hamilton on Monday. The victim is 57-year-old Shelby Ryczek of Gordon Smith Boulevard in Hamilton, according to the Butler County Sheriff’s Office.

The death of a Hamilton woman found floating in the Great Miami River Monday afternoon has been ruled a suicide by Butler County Coroner Dr. Lisa Mannix.

Shelby Ryczek’s cause of death was drowning, according to the results of an autopsy performed this morning.

Rycek, 57, of Gordon Smith Boulevard in Hamilton was found fully-clothed body was discovered Monday afternoon floating in the river just south of the low level dam along Neilan Boulevard in Hamilton by people walking along the bike trail.

Her car, a Hyundai Sonata found parked in the lot of Kevin M. Lodder Park, was towed by authorities.
