Volunteers gather for Project Feeder Watch at Aullwood Audubon Center Thursday. The count, coordinated by Cornell University's Ornithology Lab, is a winter-long survey of birds across North America. Groups meet every two weeks for two four-hour periods to track and tally the number and species of birds they see. The count helps scientists track trends in bird populations. The count continues through March and will meet again at Aullwood Jan. 24 and 25. New participants are welcome. There is no fee. STAFF PHOTO BY LISA POWELL
